The Belfer Center's Energy Technology Innovation Policy (ETIP) research group convened leaders from academia, research centers, government, business, and non-governmental organizations for a major conference on U.S. energy policy. Attendees discussed future energy policy directions in six main areas: global climate change, carbon capture and storage technology, oil and transportation, energy technology innovation, electricity, and leadership.

John M. Deutch
Former United States Deputy Secretary of Defense from 1994 to 1995 and Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) from May 10, 1995 until December 14, 1996. He is presently an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and serves on the Board of Directors of Citigroup, Cummins, Raytheon, and Schlumberger Ltd. Deutch is also a member of the Trilateral Commission
